Usage Limits
Each plan has limits on how many resources you can use. This page explains what those limits are, when they reset, and where to check your current usage.
Limits by Plan

When Do Limits Reset?
Section titled “When Do Limits Reset?”- Monthly limits (journal entries, monthly AI scans) reset on the first day of each calendar month
- Daily limits (daily AI scans) reset at midnight each day
- Team member limits are ongoing — they count current active and invited members, not a monthly total
Where to Check Your Usage
Section titled “Where to Check Your Usage”Sidebar
Section titled “Sidebar”Your sidebar shows real-time usage meters for:
- Journal entries this month (e.g., “12 / 60”)
- AI scans this month (e.g., “5 / 20”)
The meter color changes as you approach the limit:
- Teal — plenty of room
- Gold — getting close (over 75%)
- Orange — at or near the limit (over 90%)
Billing Page
Section titled “Billing Page”Go to Settings → Billing to see a detailed breakdown of all your usage, including team member count and AI scan limits.
What Happens When You Hit a Limit?

Section titled “Journal Entries”When you’ve reached your monthly limit:
- The “New Entry” button shows a notice explaining the limit
- You’ll see a link to upgrade your plan
- Existing entries are not affected — you can still view, search, and export them
Team Members
Section titled “Team Members”When your team is full:
- The “Invite Member” button is disabled
- A message shows your current count and limit
- You can still manage existing members (change roles, deactivate)
AI Receipt Scans
Section titled “AI Receipt Scans”When you’ve used your daily or monthly AI scans:
- The receipt scanner shows which limit was reached (daily or monthly)
- You can still create journal entries manually
- Scans resume when the limit resets
Chart of Accounts Editing
Section titled “Chart of Accounts Editing”On the Starter plan:
- You cannot edit or delete accounts in your Chart of Accounts
- The default chart from your business type is locked
- Upgrade to Pro to customize your accounts
Feature Access
Section titled “Feature Access”Some features are only available on higher plans. When you try to access a gated feature, you’ll see an upgrade prompt instead of the usual content.
